The Lasers and Materials Engineering Group

The Lasers and Materials Engineering (LAME) lab is a collaborative engineering group that does work in materials science/engineering, product development, and laser-ablation with a focus on laser-based imaging and processing, shape memory alloys and composite materials characterization and testing, and creating medical and aerospace devices for practical applications.

The lab is housed at the University of Southern Maine (USM), and is affiliated with the USM Department of Engineering, College of Science, Technology and Health (CSTH), Maker Innovation STudio (MIST), Lasers for Innovative Solutions (L4iS), Kellogg’s Research Laboratories (KRL), the Composites Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) and USM’s Faculty and Staff of Color Association (FSOCA).
